The first fund-raising concert in New Zealand for Brass Band Aid will go ahead on March 18th 2006 at the Salvation Army Congress Hall on Queen Street, Auckland City Centre at 7.30pm. The concert will feature The Trusts Waitakere Brass and special guests, The Mixed Company of Yale University, USA. ‘Band Manager’ Alex Kerwin said ‘We are absolutely thrilled to be involved in this concert with such a great group of musicians especially as the proceeds will be going to Brass Band Aid. Hopefully, this will be the first of many concerts for this wonderful cause.’ The Mixed Company are a varied group of musicians and friends whose musical tastes are as diverse as their personalities. Those mixed tastes and styles come together to form a group whose repertoire spans from Broadway show tunes to traditional Yale favourites, from the Indigo Girls to Guster. Whether performing for students in a New Haven school, for a crowd of thousands at a New York Mets game, or at a magnificent cathedral in Barcelona, Mixed Company has a performance ready to fit the occasion. They have several CD recordings, their latest, Two Steps was released in 2005. (To find out more about the group please visit: http://www.mixedco.net/index.html). All proceeds from the concert will be sent to Brass Band Aid (see www.brassbandaid.com to donate). A sponsor for the venue hire and concert costs will be announced shortly. The original plan for the concert, which was to feature an assembled All Star band, will be postponed until later in the year.
