I believe there are 21 bands entered this year.

Does anyone have a full line up?

  4. Hi

Is it possible that someone from the Borders Contest could at least give the names of the bands that have entered. As a member of the public who is intending to come along it would be nice to know in advance who was actually taking part, I can't find this information anywhere.

    Thanks

I was hoping that contest organisers would start to use http://brassbandresults.co.uk/ and make sure their contest details were correct and up to date - it's easier than trying to manage a full website. I don't think that is happening very much though! Please encourage them.

I'd be happy to create a premium option for contest pages where contest organisers can add contact details/news can be added, if anyone is interested.

    Tim.

List of conductors. Feel free to fill in further gaps.

I've not seen the list, but can safely report that John Dickson will conduct St David's, Phil Rosier -Jed, Stephen Baird -Peebles, Jamie McVicar - Mactaggarts, Dave Neil - Buckhaven, and my good self - Hawick and Selkirk. I'm assuming that James Anderson will front Queensferry, Chris Bradley -St.Ronan's, Neal Davies - Durham Miners and Andrew Griffiths -Newbiggin.

Thanks Alan, Neil, and whoever also submitted info on the BBR site, we have at least a good guess at all conductors now. If any are wrong, I'm sure we'll find out or someone will mention it later.

  16. Hi folks, Andrew Griffiths is definitely conducting Jayess.

Looking forward to bumping into some old friends!

This is one of the best contests in Scotland!

It is very well run and in good venues with very helpful stewards. Really cant fault anything.

Very sad to hear that there may be changes in the committee that run this event next year, just my personal opinion but if it aint broke dont fix it, you guys do a fantastic job!

Didnt get to hear many of the bands yesterday due to travel but the ones I did were all on form.

We listened to our CD on the way home - surely this has to be the way forward! Great, postive and useful remarks from both Phillip Harper and Gareth Bowman.

If someone has the full results can they post them up, thanks

    Alan

Jayess were 19th. We came after very few rehearsals, so I'm very proud we made it to the contest. I really enjoy the Borders, this was my 2nd time and the atmosphere and friendliness of all involved is never wavering.

My one complaint, and I had this last year, is why on earth do the adjudicators not discuss their placing and agree on one place for every band? If I remember correctly, one band were placed 6th by one, and 17th by another. This makes a complete mockery of a very well organised contest. No one two people will agree on everything, so surely it's fairer to collaborate and decide on a single placing?
