Wondering if anyone can help me.
For some reason, I've got this Morecombe and Wise sketch in my head, where Ernie and two mates provide the 'accompaniment' to Eric's singing.
All I can remember is the 'Boom Oo Rata Ta Ta'.
Does any older member remember the actual song that this 'accompaniment' went to?

    Many thanks

Do I really have to admit to knowing this?!!??!!?

It was called "Will you miss me tonight when I'm gone?".

Woo, I'd got a feeling it was that, but couldn't find anything to back it up.

    Well done Janet. :)

Brilliant Janet, thanks very much. Now all I've got to do is try and track down the sheet music, if there is a copy.

I think you'll find the title was actually 'Are You Lonesome Tonight?'
There, that's my street cred totalled!

One of my all time favourites! To add, the third person singing in the sketch (the one with a half decent voice) I believe was the producer of the M&W show at the time, cant remember his name though... any takers??

I remember the other two guys as 'Sid & Dick' who if i'm not mistaken were their scriptwriters at the time.
I'm going to put my shovel down now - I think I've dug a deep enough hole for myself:-?

They certainly did perform it with Sid & Dick, and I'm pretty sure they also did it with at least one of their special guest stars - their ITV series revisited quite a lot of material they had already used on BBC.

You don't lose any credibility by knowing about Morecombe and Wise, Flops me old mate, none at all.

Now go buy Roger's "Bring Me Sunshine", and 'do the dance' near the end.

This put me in mind of another favourite song - does anyone remember this? - it starts as follows: ;)

"There's a song that I recall my mother sang to me
She sang it as she tucked me up
    When I was Ninety-Three.....!"

How could any Goons fan not remember that one ?

    Ying-tong, ying-tong, ying-tong, ying-tong, ying-tong, iddle-y-po ;)

(even a favourite of the heir to the throne :) )

The day Spike Milligan died, a Gentleman stood up on a DLR train, and said, "I am now going to pay tribute to Spike. Feel free to join in."

He launched into Ying Tong, and about 6 others, including me, joined in. The rest of the passengers aboard sat and stood silently in a very disinterested way, like an Egyptologist looking for work in Acton.
