BODMIN Town Band has been hitting the high notes this year after winning three consecutive contests in their first year after promotion to the 2nd Section.
Their first victory came in June when the Band won first prize at the West of England Bandsman's Festival in Bugle with a performance of 'Penlee', written by Cornishman Simon Dobson.
Three months later the band then turned its attention to the Exmouth Entertainment Contest, where BTB came first in the 2nd Section Section and fourth overall.

The latest success was at the South West Brass Band Association Contest in Torquay over the weekend. Competing in the second section, the band gave a performance of 'Rhapsody In Brass' by Dean Goffin, winning first prize. To add to the band's delight, Solo Horn player Jane Whitehead won an award for the best instrumentalist on the day.
The contest at Torquay has been the true highlight of the year as the standard of the contest was very high, and to finish 2014 with a hat-trick of victories is fantastic. The band has worked very hard under the baton of John Maines. We are very lucky to have such a highly respected figure within the brass band world leading from the front. The band will only continue to improve with him and the many youngsters playing will provide a long success for the name of Bodmin Town Band, and more importantly for the name of Bodmin.
