It's 25 years since Black Dyke completed their clean sweep of contests in 1985. BBC Band of the Year, Yorkshire Area, European, Open and Nationals.

Who can name the members of that band?

    Where are they all now?

Thanks MightyForester, I wonder how they would sound today in a reunion concert?

Think I was at school when Douglas Blackledge was playing during this period.....he was my GCSE music teacher. I think I remember hearing him practicing.........if i'd know how good he was had have asked for private tutoring! I remember he fetched me some stickers for my trumpet case......which it still wears with pride now all these years after!

Wonder what's he's up to now? Anyone know?

He left the glorious delights of Castleford High School to go to Minsthorpe I think..........Headteacher :clap::clap: Well done Doug, bet he doesn't play cornet anymore!

    Cheers for that.

  9. Dougie was MD at my first Band (Cobden Chadwick). Top bloke and great conductor. Used to put the fear of God into me when I was 13 though .

I've a lot to thank him for.

I know it's not quite the same, but several of the above currently ply their trade at Diggle Band. Listening to them might give you an idea...

He is head of a new academy down south now. There was a full page article about his "extra curricular" activities in the Daily Mai last year.

Extra curricular in quotes means * when you're not meant to be to me. Surely that didn't make the Snail did it?

  19. Indeed. I've seen, heard of and partaken in far worse behaviour in my time in banding. And that was just one Pontins! ;)

Nice to see him doing well anyway, whatever the clowns at The Dail Heil say.
