What's the most bizarre bit of poetry you've ever seen?

    Mine would be:

    This poem is untruthful
    This poem is absurd
    This poem's a contrivance
    To rhyme with Douglas Hurd

I'm afraid mine don't fall under the category of family friendly.

    As you well know.

There once was a fellow O'Doole
Who found little red spots on his tool
    His Doctor a cynic
said Get out of me clinic,
And wipe off that lipstick you fool!

    Spring is sprung
    The grass is riz,
I wonder where the flowers is,
And why the bird is on the wing,
Now that's absurd I thought the wing is on the bird.

Well, where does one start! Literally the most bizarre piece of poetry I've ever seen was a performance by the 'sound' poet Bob Cobbing when I was at Uni in the late 80s. Check out the following website full of Cobbing sound files if you fancy being utterly bemused, as I was at the time, by the extent to which the term 'poetry' has been pushed to its limits - though I have a grudging admiration for his poem 'Make Perhaps This Out Sense of Can You'

In terms of poems I've read, e.e. cummings is always going to cause controversy when casting your vote for 'genius or charlatan?' Take the following poem

    a)s w(e loo)k
    S a
    rIvInG .gRrEaPsPhOs)

    Genius or charlatan? You decide.
