    Hi,

I know there has been threads on 'who is the best cornet player' but not on who is the best cornet players who are playing in a brass band on a full time basis. Just wondering who people have as their best 3 cornet players playing in bands on a full time basis. i would go for Richard Marshall, Roger Webster and Mark Wilkinson.

The sound these 3 produce is music to my ears.

Certainly not Martin Winter. Cracking player he is, without a doubt but not a twice a week bander.

Got to be Roger, Kirsty, RIchard, Wilky and Rob.

    Roger is the daddy tho....

Surprised nobody has mentioned Phil Cobb. I'd say he is already up there in the top tier.

Is David Daws still playing regularly? If so, he must be up there.

i must say roger is good but david daws is the class act, even though daws has had some problems over the last year with his lip, there is no one in the world which could play golden slippers like him.

i am reminded of the first epic brass that took place.

I reckon his playing with Hendon would qualify as being a full-time bander.

    1 Richard Marshall
2 David Dawes (if he's still playing regular)
    3 Mark Wilkinson

is this thread just solely about Bb cornet, can you have soprano in it. I'd change my top few for that.

    Probably

    1. Peter Roberts
    2. Brian Evans
    3. Kevin Crockford
    4. Alan Wycherley
    5. Rob Jagger?!! :p

    Combine my two i'd get

    1. Richard Marshall
    2. Raf Van Looveren
    3. Peter Roberts
    4. Phil Cobb
    5. Brian Evans
