When I accompanied my father to the firm in Halesowen that does his instrument repairs they had a double-belled instrument there, amongst their very wide range of brass and woodwind, & I was able to have a blow. Interesting experience, although I don't know that I would want to switch too often or two quickly between the two bells - I should imagine you have to think very carefully which sound you are trying to produce.

Can I ask what is the second bell for. Is it a similar sort of effect to an echo cornet?
