"Ben's Basics" is the new bass trombone method book by Ben van Dijk, bass trombone player with the Rotterdam Philharmonic, who also teaches at the Rotterdam Conservatory and at the RNCM in Manchester. It is full of useful tips and very good exercises (some of them in keys rarely seen in brass band music - up to 6 sharps!!), and will certainly help me to improve my playing.

The sub-title says that it is "for bass/tenor trombone + F attachment" and I should think that it would be beneficial for tenor trombone players, even for "straight Bb" players. Bass players too would probably find it useful, especially the low - register exercises and the tips on breathing and low-register playing.

    Thoroughly recommended.
