The average British male spends £1,144 per year cultivating his beer gut, research shows. . .(bbc)

I wonder if the average bander spends more of less on his/hers?

To be fair, it is the only thing that most of us own that is actually paid for!

At our local prices thats only 500 or so beers, an average of 1.36 or so beers per day per annum. This is only 10 or so beers per week! (please note I'm aware that this is very rough maths!!!!)

I'm willing to bet that the average bandsman spends more than the average British male on beer gut cultivation per annum! I certainly do!

Hmmm, maybe thats why I'm so skint? :-?

    Beer anyone???

Ok, so I've spent £1,144 on my beer gut. How much more has gone on the beer legs, beer face and beer @rse for goodness sake?
    I'm worth a fortune!!

Don't forget the £1 (or whatever) a week some of us pay as subs. Blowing down a brass instrument contributes a lot to the beer gut - even tea totallers get them :)

I look on it as keeping brewery workers in a job, it sounds much more philantrophic.

Is that pre or post kebab's? Everyone knows this is a vital part of the beer gut diet

Can you get a wine gut? Don't drink much beer these days unless it's fancy foreign wheat beer...
Although I did end up drinking (eating?) vodka jelly on Friday night. Why?

On I side note here's a conversation between me and one of the young lads in our training band last friday night at the tea break in rehearsal.

Boy - You got any biscuits this week

Me - You don't want to eat biscuits, you'll end up getting fat, like me!

    B - No, I do exercise.

M (slightly offended) - So do I, I play squash (fairly) regularly.

B - But if you do exercise you cancel out the food.

M - Maybe so, but I also drink beer, too much beer.

    B - You an alcoholic?

    M (even more offended) - No, I'm a bandsman, it's a fine line i know!

Caroline, it seems that with age, some men develop a beer gut even if they do not drink beer. Of course, in my own case, a continually exercised diaphragm gives the appearance of a beer gut. :tup
