As part of their 'shorts' series, Channel 4 commissioned film producer and composer Ben Till to create 'The Busker Symphony' This program will be aired on Channel 4 over 4 evenings, commencing on Monday 2nd April, from 7.55pm til 8pm. The 'Symphony' is played by various music ensembles related to London, ranging from full symphony orchestra to a blind penny whistle playing tramp. Becontree Brass Band, under the leadership of Graham Sheldon, feature on the audio track (although I think not visually) on TUESDAY 3rd APRIL and visually AND audibly on the final movement, THURSDAY 5th APRIL. Its a great piece of music, and sounds really good when put together. Should be some excellent coverage for the brass band movement. (And from a purely selfish point of view theres some great solo horn playing in Movement 4, even if it was ridiculously high! He never really understood what a tenor horn was! ) The audio was recorded in studios in August 06 (and features Will the Sec on tuba) and the visuals were recorded on Arnold Circus Band Stand (up the road from Liverpool St station, London) amongst the beer bottles, syringes, and homeless, in September 06.
