A friend of mine emailed me with the following request believing I was a BOC.

"My sister is looking for a copy of a Euphonium solo of "Be my love", as
sung by Mario Lanza in some film. Apparently my (late) father had it on tape,

but it disappeared when his stuff was disposed of."

    For copy. read recording.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

PS - Odds on the tMPer giving the first reply to this are as follows

    Peter Bale 1-4 on (Favourite)
    Dave Payn Evens
    David Lancaster 3-1
    The Music Man 10-1
    Roger Thorne 10-1
    Keppler 33-1
    Wooden Flugel 33-1
    Sparkling Quavers 33-1
Anyone with "Euph" in their user name 100-1
    1000-1 Bar

Just had to beat your odds on this one!

'Voice of the Euphonium' - Morgan Griffiths - to name one.................

think the same recording is on YBS' Vitae Lux - both on Polyphonic

Also have it on Galaxies by Yorkshire Imps, and there must loads more recordings of it!

Just in case you laid an each-way bet, it is also on Welsh Wizards (Childs Brothers) ;)
(caught me on my lunch-break  )

There certainly are! All these are an arrangement by Ray Farr.

Courtois Showcase (Nick Childs with Fodens Courtois Band)
The BT Band (Gareth Brindle with The BT Band)
The Voice of the Euphonium (Morgan Griffiths with YBS)
Vitae Lux (Morgan Griffiths with YBS)
Welsh Wizards (Robert & Nick Childs)
Building with Brass (Darren Morris with Tredegar)

I'm disappointed that I didn't feature in the odds for first reply!
I guess I was covered in '1000-1 Bar' but being a Salvationist I have no idea what that means!

"Giving your sister a new recording of her favourite piece of music, £11.95"

"Finding the damned thing in the first place, tMP"

    Thanks to one and all!

Jim will be a happy bunny.

Travelling Light - Travelsphere Holidays conducted by Richard Evans

Played qite beautifully by Robert (Bob) Woods.

Good CD and not all Euph solos and duets.
