I am looking to get new lyre for my EEb bass. Can anyone recommend good one which will hold a march book secure without falling out?

Holding it with your hand> Never let me down. Seriously I've never come across a decent one, hence why I hold it myself!

Never bothered using one. Always hold my music with my hand. Found that a lyre made things worse.

Sounds like a market niche for Wessex tubas to fill...

Most of the basses I heard playing on a march sounded like they were making it up anyway !

I'm supprised that there isn't one about, the standard ones you bend are no good for basses which because a problem if you're playing a contest march you do need the 4th valve. Slaidburn and the like on a road march, I'm fine holding the music myself.

In over 40 years of playing I have only ever come across 2 lyres that were any good. One of them was a German make that I had in the army, the other is my own fist. It's better just to learn your part off by heart.
