On Saturday 4th September Ashbourne Town Band are holding a brass workshop in the Ashbourne Town Hall, Buxton Road from 10:00am until 12:00. The main objective is to serve as a recruitment event for the band. Ashbourne Town Band is a non-competing local town band which plays in and around the Peak district of Derbyshire. Members will be on hand to talk about what it is like playing in the band and instruments will be available for anyone who wants to have a go. All ages are welcome from junior to senior citizen s of any ability from raw beginner to accomplished player.

We did a ''Come and Try It Day'' and got 9 new learners from it. Hope you are successful.

Thanks for all your words of encouragement. In fact I joined the band their workshop back in 2007.
Today was a resounding success and well worth the effort with 4 definite recruits one turned out for us this afternoon and is joining us again tomorrow.
I would recommend that all bands in need of layers should try this approach - it works.
