The world famous Brighouse and Rastick Band celebrated their 125th anniversary in 2006 and to mark the occasion commissioned an original watercolour picture by popular Huddersfield artist, Tony Haigh, well known for his work depicting local landscapes using the watercolour medium. Following discussions between artist and band representatives, the aim was to produce a montage of images mainly linking places associated with the band and its local area.

The centre piece of the picture is Huddersfield Town Hall, famous as the scene of over sixty years of massed bands concerts promoted by the band. Local churches, St. Martins (Brighouse), St. Matthews (Rastrick) and the Central Methodist Church feature as places where the band have performed locally over the past 125 years.

Naturally, views of the band’s own rehearsal facilities, both their former home, ‘Rydings Hall’ and their current home ’West Ridings’, are included.

A particular special place in the bands history is depicted, London’s Royal Albert Hall, where band particularly enjoy performing and where no less than seven ‘Championships of Great Britain’ have been won over the last fifty years.

The unique ‘Triple Champions’ year in 1998 where the band were crowned English, British and European Champions is represented by an image of the host of trophies. The main picture images are finally framed with a border of musical notations, brass and percussion instruments.

A number of high quality prints measuring approx. 445mm (17¾ ins) wide by 320mm (12½ins) high, have been produced from the original picture which are available for purchase. Prints are priced at £15 each (plus postage and packing of £2.50 if appropriate), Framed Prints are £30 each (to order and for collection – sorry no mail order) and available by writing to the band at
