After a recent competition held to find a theme for their forthcoming massed bands concert with Fodens Richardson Band on Saturday 27th October in Huddersfield town hall, Brighouse and Rastrick band were overwhelmed with the volume of entries from near and far.

The band’s committee along with guest conductor for the evening, Richard Evans were delighted to have chosen the theme ‘Earth, Wind and Fire’ proposed by Mr Wesley Thompson. It turns out that Wesley hails from Belfast and is to make the trip with his family to receive the VIP treatment from B&R at the concert.

Conductor for the evening, Richard Evans is now busily compiling a suitable programme to be played by B & R and their guests from Fodens. It is sure to be another highly entertaining evening with tickets going on general sale at Fawcetts Stationers in Brighouse on Saturday 22 September (10:00 am to noon only) or through David Howe who can be contacted on 01274 72533. Kirklees Information Centres will have tickets on sale from Wed 26th September.

Meanwhile, the band are preparing Kenneth Downie’s piece ‘'Visions of Gerontius', the set test for the British Open on September 15th. You can get a preview as the band are holding open rehearsals on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th September from 7:45pm at the Central Methodist Church, Brighouse.
