Can anyone please tell me who publishes the Bill Geldard Autumn Leaves arrangement for Tenor horn?
Is that the same as the version by him for trombone (which is very high most of the time)? Our version is in manuscript as I recall.
Thanks Dave - I'm not sure. Sandy Smith is playing it on the Dyke recording that I've got
So, does it not say the publisher on the track list?
Essential Dyke Volume IX.
I'm away from the office now so can't check my copy. Our track lists always say the publisher unless, of course, the piece hasn't been published in which case it would say M/s.
Thanks - it says Studio but its not on their website.
Its not published.
Bill did a number of arrangments for Yorkshire Imps in the 1980's that were never published. If my memory serves me correct, Autumn Leaves, was written for Ian Bousfield and recorded on a disc along with Maurice Murphy playing Ernest Tomlinson's Cornet Concerto.
If my memory serves me right there were copyright problems with this arrangement at the time, I do not know if those problems were ever resloved.
Have a word with Stan Kitchen at Studio Music Company he will no doubt put you in the picture.
sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but was the horn version of this solo ever published? And if it wasn't, how simillar is the arrangement by Geldard for trombone (would it work transposed....)?
It might be easier to just contact Bill Geldard direct
indeed - do you have any contact info for him please?
Perhaps I can help here.
The arrangement which I played with Dyke, and recorded was the standard trombone arrangement by Bill Geldard. All I did was to play the solo line at the same pitch - but on tenor horn.
Hope this all makes sense.
Did you use your slides instead of valves?
I'm sure someone at Surrey Brass does - he was helping us out a couple of weeks ago.
