Audley Brass band is delighted to announce that Colin Hartley has accepted the position of Musical Director with immediate effect.

Colin originally hails from Essex and found himself taking home a Tuba at the age of eight. Not too long after that he joined the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines and, amongst other things, served as Principal Tuba in the Royal Yacht Band. Whilst at the RM School of Music he studied conducting under Walter Hargreaves.

After the Royal Marines, Colin joined the Scottish Police Service and played for many of the leading Scottish Championship brass bands including the Scottish Co-op and the now Kingdom Brass.

Colin is now based in Derby and works as an accident investigator and admits to enjoying the occasional round of golf as well as dining out and sampling the odd glass of red!

Audley Band has recently merged its main and training bands so Colin now has the challenge of making them a force to be reckoned with in the Midlands.
