The Ashton under Lyne band would like to welcome Phil Chalk as their
new musical director with immediate effect.
As a lot of people will know, Phil was assistant principle cornet at Faireys for 15 years and brings a wealth of experience along with him.
The appointment follows the terrific performance and result at the Senior
Cup in which the band got promotion to the Grand Shield after relegation
    two years ago.
Along with Phil comes his wife Claire who will take over the Principle
cornet chair. The band are getting back to full strength after what has been
a difficult time and are looking forward to moving in to their brand new band room which is being funded and purpose built by Tameside council to whom we are indeed most greatful. We would also like to extend our utmost thanks to Geoff Williams for conducting and keeping the band going in extremely tough circumstances.

I'd like to wish Phil the best of luck. Great musician, nice guy and totally, totally insane. Best of luck to Band and MD. :)
