Having listened to the Regionals 2004 CD earlier this week I would like to congratulate the Panel on a superb selection, these pieces should keep all bands v happy.
I play in a 2nd section band, and I'm really looking forward to starting work on Kaleidoscope, certainly the best piece I've heard for lower sections for a good few years.
It'll be interesting to hear what others think of the selection.

I have to agree with all the selections too. They're all really superb.
There's certainly somehing there for everyone.
My thoughts about Kaleidoscope are on another thread (its fantastic!).
I would love to be playing it but unfortunately (!!) its Tristran Encounters for me!!!

You'll have a great time with Tristan (rather than Tristran!) as it's a wonderful piece.

You could always buy Kaleidoscope to relieve the tension!

I'm sure it has other uses as well, such as a manually-operated fan in the summer, a portable flat umbrella for those freak rain showers and even opaque double glazing for A4 sized windows. :D (Kidding!! )

Who was that guy in Dads Army who'd sell anything to anyone... :p

You'll love it Leisa, Kaliedoscope is a fantastic piece, I really can't wait to play it, I have bought 2 copies of the CD (Sad I know), but ones for the car as I drive a lot for work and it is on constantly, could probably sing it to you, and the other for the house, the kids could probably sing it to you now and they don't even play a brass instrument, trully is a wonderful piece

Got a copy of the CD and I think they will be all excellent tests of the bands. Trisatan encouters is a tad too long though for my liking - 17 minutes which could play havoc especially in the Yorkshire Championship section where there is 14/15 bands

I agree about the length. It is a bit too long.
I like the piece but when you get about 12 mins into it you think its going to finish and then it seems to start up again.
