I now Know that Lydmet Lydney came 7th out of 7 in the Championship/1st and City Of Bristol, did not come in the top 3, so has anyone more info. (all results given above are from my ex-woife and so up for dispute. She plays Sop for Lydney.) :)

    2. Swindon Pegasus (John Winterflood); A London Overture - 191(?)
    3. Shirley (Dave Lea); Tallis Variations - 187(?)

Did they sort out who came where in the 2nd section then? It all sounded a wee bit confused...

    Hi Dave
I was`nt in the hall for the results but I`ve heard it was a bit farcical at one point, apparently the results as I`ve posted earlier are indeed correct...and besides we`ve got the trophy and we are not giving it back! :D
Many congrats on your win, is that 2 years in a row now?

    Get on Soundhouse :D
Well done, especially for beating your rivals Lympstone

    Well done to all bands!

It certainly is, thanks! Apologies to all for bringing out the area piece again, but with only two rehearsals to prepare something after the Senior Trophy, it was that or the Trophy piece, which we couldn't bear to do again...

Did the 2nd section Best Instrumentalist prize end up in the right place? If I remember right, the announcements went:

    "2nd section:
Best instrumentalist: X player from band that played number Y
    <crowd go wild: X collects prize>
and in 3rd place: the band that played number Y, Z Brass
<crowd confusedly wild: members of Z: "We didn't play Y!">
etc... etc... with much comedic slapstick

Congrats on your result, by the way.

Also a good one for Pegasus after a disappointing showing at the area, and also good for Shirley on a tricky piece.

Thanks for that (is your name Steve?) its always nice to beat that "Scratch Band" from up the road
Although we`ve got some catching up to do as up until recently we could never beat them.

Ummm...I think so, I think as far as we know the error(s) was made by the officials and Richard Evans was satisfied that what was eventually announced was correct.
Apparently there were some "Prams" minus a few "dolly`s" in some quarters.....contest success is such a fickle mistress!

    Thankyou for your kind words
    Best wishes

  19. I see, no sign of Rebel Tuba on this thread then!
