    Hi all,

I'm putting the feelers out for a new cornet piece to play at British Open Solo Contest, I know its a long way away, but this year I want to do it right and start early.

I'm in a bit of a quandry, I want to play something good but I'm not looking for something that is dominated by technical flourishes, thats not my thing, i'm looking for something to utilise my sound.

    All ideas appreciated.

How about Jubilance by William Himes? I'm not too sure if a piano accompaniment is available though.

    Hi Blake,

Long time no see! I've retired from the Open for now, as it's a bit difficult to practice unimportant stuff with a 7-month old baby in the house. I'll make a comeback at some point! How's about the Eddie Gregson Prelude and Capriccio? A number of people have played it before at the open and it's quite effective.

    Hope all is well,

    Cheers mate.

    Hi Duncan,

Things are ok, ya know, same old same old.

Anyways, you've only retired so you can make come back! Plus I can imagine its not easy getting effective practice in with the little one and all...

I'll have a bash at that piece mate, see how I go on, thanks.
