Taken up from Will The Sec's idea, can we perfect the Adjudicators Phrasebook. Here's a couple to start us off...

"One band stood out today" = real meaning "I only listened to one band"

"Some bands will be disappointed" = controversial decision on its way.

"Well done Percussion" = one of the rarest phrases, hardly ever used.

"Nice sound, soloist" = lousy technique

"Thunderous Timps" = By 'eck, that Bass player helping out on timps did really well!

"Nice moment at B" - couldn't think of anything else to say.
[at the summing up speech] "Its been a great contest, my congratulations to the organisers and the competing bands" - I could do with getting this job again next year.

"Lacking style" - that's not the way I would have played/conducted it

    "Rounded performance" - Mediocre

"Good ending"- got to the end of the piece and hadn't written any thing nice

"Would have been a good piece for the end of an entertainment contest" - A bit to modern for me (true comment)

"A warm sound" - couldn't hear the soprano player

"Glock?" - why did you bother entering a contest without four percussionists (true comment)

"Good sop" - sop entry in wrong place but sounded good (true comment)

"Players tired by the end" - I got a bit bored with it

Slightly going off topic but relevant to adjudicators:
I went to a contest a few years ago now the adjudicator gave is chat at the end and said
"Ive got the result right for first place :Just ask the WINNING BAND;)"
