Hi all, I couldn't decide where to post this topic so hope its in the right place mr admin.

I am on the hunt for anyone that has any Tower of Power charts for any or all the band. I am attempting to form a specialised funk and soul band. I have the players, although anyone is more than welcome to voice their interest. The problem is the arrangements.

I have found several sites that are selling full instrumentation at about 30 quid, but being a brass bander, yup you guessed it, would rather get for free, or to swap for something else, barter etc!!!!!

Please help out, if ya can, thanks very much.

    With much Funk,

You'd rather play a load of illegal charts on stage in pubs and clubs, possibly hotels? I hope PRS don't like Funk gig too much!

Not seen any arrangements recently on my travels but some of their early material could work very well for band.

I could probably advise you where to BUY some - but since your tone appears to indicate you'd rather rip off composers and arrangers such as several of the folk who post on here, you can find your own music.

    Oh, welcome to TMp.....

As I'm sure you can see from my status, I am band manager for a small rhythm and blues big band, but rather than play photocopied music we write our own arrangements (there is no copyright on making your own arrangement, as a gigging covers band would do . . ). Like Andi said you're leaving plenty of folk out of pocket when you start copying arrangements.

from the above, I'm interested to know how far you can push abilities and play hard pieces when you've all been on the beer. And of course, you dont' mean every brass band copies music, some may do, but not ALL! You must have strange brass bands where you are, as my Brass band ticks all the above boxes too (except copying music!) and happily so does 15north!

    Good luck with your quest.

Tone and intention totally misunderstood. Wires crossed totally. Thread over. Thanks for your input.

So how do covers bands the country over get away with it? surely PRS would be out every night in the pubs & clubs. . .

Not a question for me to answer. The law says you can't make an arrangement of copyright material without a licence. AFAIK doesn't only apply to brass bands ...

Sorry, but this is not true, unless the music you're making your own arrangement of is already in the public domain. If it's protected by copyright, then you can't go and churn out your own arrangements without prior permission from the copyright owner.
