Browsing through Presto's catalogue today, I was pleasantly surprised to come across this new CD of music by Philip Wilby:

Particularly useful for anyone who, like me, wanted to hear Cyrano but didn't want to buy Joseph Cooks's Debut CD because they already had the other four tuba concertos on the disc. The Cd also gives a chance to hear A Breathless Alleleuia which I believe is opening Dyke's concert this coming Friday at the RNCM. And being on Naxos, it's great value for money too!

Well spotted! Seems a real bargain at the price too. I'll be interested in hearing 'Alleluia'.

Breathless... was broadcast on Radio 3 this morning around 7.30 so was the first thing I heard when my radio alarm went off.

It sounded fantastic - but isn't music for snoozing !!!

Dyke were due to play this on Sunday at Symphony Hall in Birmingham (it was on the printed programme), but sadly they did not, they played a PLC fanfare instead.

A pity really, a PLC piece is no match for Mr. Wilby's works.
