With the contest season behind them Norwich based Cawston Band are now looking forward to a busy summer with several highlights.

First will be an all day rehearsal with the notable and dynamic musical director Richard Evans, who will be taking Cawston through their paces for the day, working on several pieces to be used later in the year.

Then on Saturday 14th June, Cawston Band will be performing a Charity Concert in St Agnes Church, Cawston, in fond memory of former player, Chairman and Secretary, John Royston. John joined Cawston in the late sixties and remained with the band for over 30 years. In addition, for many years he was also the Treasurer of the East Anglian Brass Band Association and was very well known on the Brass Band circuit.

But the largest event for Cawston Band is on Saturday 19th July, when the band will once again stage their Proms on the Pitch Concert, at Horsham St Faiths. The event is sponsored by Victoria Marquees, HSS Hire and the Marwood Group Ltd. Supporting act this year is Saxobility, followed by Cawston Band, who will perform to the public a range of music, which promises to be vibrant, lively and impressive, making for a great night.

It may be busy year for the band, but hard work and self-motivation is what the band thrives on, so to end the summer in style and to meet audience demands, in September the Band is returning to the recording Studio to produce their second CD.

Jeez this reputation Cawston seem to have as a bunch of drunks! FYI Kev we were out on Saturday night and we stayed in the same pub all evening.

We are getting to old to be wandering the streets at night!
