Perthshire Brass are looking forward to full participation in the forthcoming "Perth 800" celebrations, marking 800 years since the city received its Royal Charter. Our weekend starts off with the Youth Band providing music outside Perth Concert Hall on Friday afternoon, 2 July, whilst civic leaders from all of our "twin cities" attend a reception to be attended by HRH Prince Edward. Friday evening sees the Senior Band in concert at Kinross Parish Church at 7.30pm, this concert is being attended by over 40 vistors from our German twin town, Aschaffenburg. Saturday 3 July at 7 , and both bands play in the superb, recently built venue that is the Bankfoot Church Centre, a few miles north of Perth off the A9. Sunday evening is the main , civic, Perth 800 Celebration Concert , in the Concert Hall, when both bands participate along with other local and visiting groups (including a German pipe band!). Then on Monday afternoon, the Youth Band entertain the nearly 2000 staff at the offices of Scottish and Southern Electricity in Perth, playing over the lunch hour in the company's grounds. I should add that our school term ends at lunchtime this Friday - the Scottish academic year is different from that elsewhere in the UK, running from mid-August to end of June/early July!
