Just a slight correction with the points

    Granite City Brass 187
    Bathgate 185
    Lochgelly 184
    Arbroath 183
    City of Discovery 182
    Perthshire Brass 181
    Tayport 180

The whole of Granite City Brass's programme came from the extremely talented composer Darrol Darry, who we are very proud to be associated with. (Flashbarry)

Calum Booth performed the superb cornet solo Elegy.

Congrats. to you and your band, JamesResurgam! And to Flashbarry getting a result on a complete programme of his own arrangements (... doesn't happen that often! :) )

Thank you very much indeed, but I would like to make a correction; the pieces are all original compositions, and I thoroughly recommend them to you all.
Suggest you contact Flashbarry to buy the music.

;) ... I would have to listen to them first! Don't think a competition has been won on original compositions since the Granada days of Grimey & Garry Howarth (although I could be wrong).

Don't think all Elgar Howarth's music was originals, some were arrangements. Darrol Barry's music is all originals including intro and outro with Bagpipes played by the lovely Nicky Martin.

Congratulations to all at Granite City, another good outing in 2005.

Hopefully we'll be there with you guys at the Northern Contest next year! I notice it'll be the 25th year as well, should be a good'un!

All the best for the rest of the contesting year!

Good to see another win for Granite City, a band from my hometown! Also nice to see Bathgate doing well again - I've known Chinn for years and great to see him leading them to winning ways again!

One thing that is dissappointing however is the lack of bands, particularly those in the north of Scotland for whom this is their local contest? Out of maybe 8 contesting bands (I think) who come under the Northern Counties association, only 2 were there (Granite City and Arbroath). Out of curiousity, why were neither of the Bon-Accord bands there? Prize money doesn't seem too bad and as the only champ band in the area, I'm surprised BA weren't there...

I was going to be going with Clydebank to the contest incidentally, but sadly it clashed with blackpool!

    Thanks folks.
Hope we are now on a roll.
1st at the Scottish and then 5 out of 7 of the prizes at Forfar.
Next one Harrogate - wish I knew what the tespiece was - how long now????

Well done Band again and Jamesie - you must be doing something right pal.
