3rd section testpiece begins with 'N' apparently. Any ideas?

Worth a shot in the Dark New World Symphony. New arrangement or Dykes Old one

It could be, but it's not that long since it was last used - would be kinda surprised if it is that, but it's a nice piece.

    Second section begins with 'E'...

    And go...

My first thought is PLC's Equilibrium?

so from trawling facebook posts like a proper geek - these look to be the most popular "rumours" so far......

    World tour 4th
    Northern landscapes 3rd
Ex terra lucem (Jonny bates) 2nd
    Blitz 1st
    Odessey Champ

If 1st section is Blitz I will eat any hats out there. It's waaaaay too hard.

I agree - was surprised it was being mentioned for 1st - still a stren test for Championship bands i'd have though!

The other 1st section suggested was Brass Metamorphosis or something like that ^ like Tubamaest says above :D ? (TBH i just went with the loudest voices :D)

Blitz would be a very harsh choice for 1st section! A piece that still provides a stern challenge for most Championship bands!
I'd love an Eric Ball piece though with a Ball piece being the finals piece for 1st section I doubt they'd pick one for he areas too. I'd be content playing Variations on a 9th by Vinter. Seen lots mention that as the potential piece for 1st section.

Blitz for 1st would be insane - you might get one or two per area that survive it (ish) but you're not gonna have a performance... And everything below is a lottery.

    Would be a crazy choice.

I haven't seen the letter for 1st yet, but even if it's B then Blitz ought to be well down the list (if I had to set a "B" for 1st I'd pick Blackfriars personally - great piece and appropriate challenge - but that's not a rumour, so don't go expecting to see it)

Kapitol have just confirmed - as leaked by Jonny Bates - that it begins with B....

Still AW Champ, although that (according to Mr Bates) starts with O

I think its as valid a guess as any, and probably more so than Blitz (which I think is more wishful thinking on some players' part)

Perhaps, won't be long til we find out.

Personally I'd put Blitz up there with Benvenuto Cellini for "how inappropriate for 1st section can we get starting with B".

Where would Burlesque for Brass Band (Goorhuis) fall on the inappropriateness scale?

Played Variations on a 9th at 2 Contest 2 years ago, the first adjudicator loved the piece, the second slagged us off for playing old outdated music, both were graded 1st section nationally so you could get some weird results?. But that's Banding
