Interested that my young son is down to conduct Northop - he will be surprised - he doesn't know one end of the baton from the other - assume they must mean Tom Wyss.

    Senior Trophy

How are bands chosen for entry into the Senior Trophy.

    What criteria is employed??

Frank Hodges would be the man to ask

At least there are plenty of changes made each year to give bands a chance who may be on a waiting list

Great choices of music this year. I would imagine Spectrum to sound incredibly loud in the Spanish Hall though - pity about the acoustics in there, just spoils things

We're playing Pageantry - what a crackin' piece! Had a quick sqwizz at it, so no doubt we'll be blowing through it pretty soon. Never played this before, but seems a bit of a lip-buster!

We too are gonna be ploughing through Pageantry...I have played it several times before...its one of 'those' pieces for me...one that you'd play again, but wouldn't mind if you NEVER played again lol!

I quite like Pageantry, One of my favs, out of the 'old school' of pieces. i see what you mean. i expect your part scotchgirl is rather boring!!!

The baritone parts are very nice and quite challenging, not a bit boring, very well written.

Contest Music, yes brill test=piece. Classic of all time but it has been set as a t-p a bit too often.

Three great test pieces, gonna be a toughie deciding what to listen to this year. Should be a great contest.

    Really?
Apart from being set as one-of-three at the Open in 2004, when was it last used? And remember there's a pattern of previous Open pieces being used for the Shield anyway.
I'd rather have to play (or listen to) Contest Music 10 times than one more Vinter piece!

Other contests it was used. Unfortunately, I am not able to remember which ones!! Sorry.

I much rather listen to Contest Music a lot more as well, other than Vinter's. yes, anyday.

    Grand shield vergins!!

Never been before, can anyone offer any advice as a spectator, where to stay or perhaps more importantly where not to stay! when to get there, times the differnt sections-are supposed- to start.

    You get my drift

    Thanks
