Nominate the band you think is the best of 2009.

Please also vote for any band which has improved a lot, too!

I think my band should be nominated because in the past 6 months the band has gone from strength to strength.

so I nominate Gosport Silver Band

Can we nominate our own bands? if so then The Emley have my vote. They really have worked hard this year and I'm really proud to finally be a part of the team! This year as a 3rd section band (promoted to 2nd for next year) they managed to:

    • Grab 3rd at the areas earning a promotion
    • 1st place at Pogson-Bray trust contest
    • Managed to bag a FIRST section prize white friday
    • Most entertaining band prize at stocksbrodge band club
    • Winners with first place at the Bolsover contest
    • and to top the year off took first prize at Wychavon festival of brass
After all of that hard work they even managed to squeeze in a CD recording in November! (Watch this space)

They might not be a championship section band but they really have worked their socks off this year a deserve a big round of applause :clap::clap: and a big good luck taking their well deserved place in the 2nd section next year.

I'd like to second Cory, and nominate Fountain City

    Ok here we go!!
BLACK DYKE, no question!! Shouldn't need to give a reason, just saying black dyke should be enough!! :D

Is that the sort of thing you were looking for leyfy?! ;)

Ok then - little Verwood Concert Brass for jumping straight through the sections. 3rd in 2008, 2nd in 2009 and 1st in 2010.
But mostly for generating such enthusiasm and hard work that there is now a new band - Verwood B (June 2009) which is beginning to contest in 2010. Plus there is a 27 member strong training band.
Altogether there are 80 players at Verwood now.

Fodens. My favourite band since childhood.

I second Fodens. Glyn Williams is doing a fantastic job.

Maybe it's me being pedantic, but no-one is "winning" yet, as voting hasn't started - if people have chosen to second etc a nomination (not required by the rules!) that is up to them, but it is not an indication of a likely winner

That is a very good point, because you are right - they do not need to be seconded.

Some people do second them, others don't.

    Thanks for spotting my mistake!

Don`t spoil the moment Peter. Those 2 names together in the same sentence is a first so let us quietly enjoy it! ;)
