I like the idea of EVERY band playing a set test AND an own choice!

I note that none of the adjudicators are from Belgium - does this provoke comment? I can just imagine the fuss if all the adjudicators in Harrogate next year (for example) were NOT from the UK.

It's exactly the opposite! The only comments I have heard about the adjudicators is that someone of them may be getting a little bit old.
The Belgian brass band scene is so small. Everyone know everyone and everyone is in a certain way linked to at least one of the competing bands or conductors. If the adjudicators were Belgian, there would be stories about prejudice every year again.
In fact, if I remember correctly, the rule sof the contest explicitly state that the adjudicators HAVE to be foreign.

oh, and the championship section doesn't play an own choice piece any more, since last year. The contest has grown to too many bands, but the organisers want to keep it all in one day, instead of spreading it over two days, or two concert venues... (mostly because of financial concerns)

Results from the championship section just in by text message. A little bit of an upset, but I wasn't there so I can't really comment:

    1) Festival Brass Band
    2) Noord-Limburgse Brass Band
    3) ex-aequo for Brass Band Willebroek and Brass Band Buizingen
    5) Metropole Brass Band
    6) Kortrijk Brass Band

Willebroek and Buizingen joint 3rd? Who would expect that?

I'm expecting a lot of discussions on the Belgian forum, I will keep you updated :)
For me personally, the 2nd place for NLBB isn't such a surprise, because I think the test piece suited their conductor very well.

He wears a pink shirt regularly
But I don't think his physique is compatible with the profession of ballerina ;)
