The concept for this new CD Portraits in Brass was conceived by international Dutch trumpet/cornet player Huug Steketee and his small recording company Project Audio, who are based in Holland. The first thing the listener will find is that it is different from the traditional kind of brass band recording.

Brass band discs traditionally have more than five works on the programme but this disc is one of those rare occasions when the content will not only be appreciated by the brass band devotee but also from the wider brass playing enthusiast.

    TRUMPET CONCERTO IN A-FLAT MAJOR

Peter Masseurs principal trumpet with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam

CONCERTO FOR FRENCH HORN AND BRASS BAND

    PORTRAITS
    Huug Steketee
Huug Steketee principal trumpet player at the Residentie Orchestra at The Hague, a position he has now held for the last twenty years. In 2005 he recorded on cornet his successful ‘Shining Waters’ CD. On this new recording he is once again playing the cornet on this, his new cornet solo.

All four solos are accompanied once again by the Hepworth (Lanson Homes) Band, under the baton of their musical director Mark Bentham and was recorded in Morley Town Hall in January.

FOR FOUR & JEAN BAPTISTE - QUARTET PIECE
    Huug Steketee
The final piece on this disc provides the opportunity for all the soloists to come together and perform a new quartet piece written especially by Huug Steketee to celebrate the completion of this disc.

Details of when this new CD is available will be announced in the next few weeks, but further information can be obtained from
